Visibility at Krishnapatnam is rated ‘good ’ to ‘very good’

Wind Speeds

The annual mean wind speed is 14 kmph. During June-September, the wind blows from SW.   During remaining period, it blows NE - NNE. During NE monsoon, wind velocity may go to 50   kmph and upto 165 kmph during cyclone for 2-3 days in a year.

Tidal Range
The tides at Krishnapatnam are semi diurnal in nature. The mean tidal variation is of the order of 0.7m at spring tides and 0.3m at neap tides.

All Weather Port
Krishnpatnam port is an all weather port functioning 24 X 7 round the clock navigation and operations.

Deep Draft
Designed for handling vessels upto 200,000 DWT along side, in phases.
 
  • Phase-1 Draft : 15.6 Meters along side.

  • Phase-2 Draft : 16 Meters along side.
  •  
  • Phase-3 Draft : 19 Meters along side.

  • Berths
    The phase I implementation is in advance stage of completion with 4 berths – each of 300mtr of length.
    The phase II expansion plans will be commenced from Aug 2008, which will add more 7 berths.
    On completion of the final phase of expansion and development, Krishnapatnam port will have a total no of 41 berths with a quay length of 12.5 Kms and a draft of 19 Mtrs – the ever largest of the country.
