Krishnapatnam port, 14o 15’ N latitude, 80o 08’ E longitude, is a natural port, ideally located on the East Coast of India
in Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh, 180 kms. North of Chennai.
Tides at Krishnapatnam are semi diurnal in nature. The mean tidal variation is of the order of 0.7m at spring tides and 0.3m at neap tides.
The annual mean wind speed is 14 kmph. June-September, the wind blows from SW while for the rest of the year it blows NE - NNE. During NE monsoon, wind velocity may go to 50 kmph and up to 165 kmph during cyclones (for 2-3 days in a year).
