Wind Speeds

Mean wind speeds varies from 5 on Beaufort scale in January to 10 in June. The annual mean wind speed is 14 kmph. During June-September, the winds blow from SW. During the remaining period, it blows NE-NNE. During NE monsoon, wind velocity may go upto 50 kmph and upto 165 kmph during cyclones for 2-3 days a year.

Cyclones

Despite the fact the Bay of Bengal is prone to cyclones during the pre and post-monsoon periods, there have been very very few cyclones crossing the coast at Krishnapatnam itself.
