Venkatachalam Railway siding work complete

The siding work at Venkatachalam station has been completed. The siding is now ready to receive iron ore rakes.

The capacity of the siding is 3 rakes per day (plus one additional rake is possible on the western side).

The Port is just 26kms away from the siding.

Mechanical equipment can be deployed for discharging wagons.

Railways to invest in the project

The Obulavaripalle - Krishnapatnam (New Line) Project – the Krishnapatnam Port connectivity project - has been identified for development under the National Rail Vikas Yojana (NRVY).

Under the Yojana, which is a non budgetary initiative of the Government of India, the project would be implemented with market and private sector participation through equity and debt route.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been floated to develop, mobilize resources and implement projects identified under NRVY.

IDFC has prepared the PIM for the project and the detailed alignment studies are being completed.
